Peggy Ann Thorn, 74, of Stephenson, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Stephens City, surrounded by her children.
Ms. Thorn was born in 1943 in Timberville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Alfred and Joy Miller. She graduated from Broadway High School, Broadway, Virginia. Ms. Thorn was a secretary with the Frederick County Public Schools, retiring in 2011. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, actively involved in working at the voting polls, loved her cats, enjoyed playing BINGO and solitaire, and never missed a day eating at Chick-fil-A. Above all else, Peggy enjoyed helping others and would always do anything for anybody; she had a special place in her heart for children with special needs. She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving are sons, Roger L. Thorn and Daniel A. Thorn (Angela); daughter, Kimberly E. Pierce; grandchildren, Lucas A. Thorn, Marcus W. Thorn (Jessica), Joy K. Pierce, Mikayla R. Thorn, and Mary G. Pierce; step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ryan (Cheyenne), Andrew (Lexxi), and Alec Marshall; sister, Barbara J. Schuckman (Charles “Buck”); many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; her best friend, Edith Culp, and her entire Chick-fil-A family.
Peggy was preceded in death by son-in-law, Scott Pierce, and sister, Nancy L. Lorenzen.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Christopher Porter officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Peggy may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
