Paul R. Westenkirchner, Sr.
Paul Raymond Westenkirchner, Sr., 66, of Frederick County, Virginia, continued his journey, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Westenkirchner was born in 1946, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Paul F. and Etta M. Westenkirchner. He was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1964. Paul was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an Avionics Senior Field Service Engineer with Honeywell Aerospace, retiring in 2011. Paul was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Winchester. He considered himself a “Jack of all trades, master of none”. He liked to use the phrase “Always keep your nose up in the turns.”
Paul’s knowledge and professionalism, his willingness to share and help others succeed, and the enthusiasm which he brought everyday made him truly inspirational.
He married Sandra Kay Pope on October 7, 1967, in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Surviving with his wife of nearly 46 years, is his daughter, Sue Trussell and her husband, Michael, of Bedford, Virginia; son, Paul R. Westenkirchner, Jr. and wife, Carey, of Southington, Ohio; Paw’s three grandchildren, Michael Trussell, II, Mark Trussell and Audrey Trussell; and his constant companion, Hudson, his English Springer Spaniel.
One brother, Richard Frank Westenkirchner, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Arthur Faught officiating. A private family interment will be held later at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
