Paul William Bugge, 69, of Clear Brook, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Bugge was born in 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Henrietta and Herbert Bugge. He was a graduate of John Jay High School in Brooklyn, Class of 1964. He then went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Bethany College in Lynchburg, Kansas, followed by Averette College where he received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Paul served in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his initial service, he was awarded the Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Bugge was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. and Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester. He sang baritone in local choral groups wherever he lived. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking. Mr. Bugge was wonderful in his role as husband and father, always supporting his daughter, grandchildren and helping with his wife’s art. He remained steady, persistent and faithful, even up to the end. As an introvert whose actions spoke volumes, he quietly backed his love with consistency, loyalty and faithfulness to the details and surprising shake-ups of life.
Paul married Lynda Smith on June 7, 1992 in Washington, D.C.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter Erika Bugge of Charlottesville, Virginia; grandchildren, Jason Earnest (Kelcey) of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Emma Earnest of Alexandria, Virginia, Andrew Earnest of Culpeper, Virginia; great grandchildren, Parker Ray, Noah Earnest and Cannon Earnest; and brothers, Carl Bugge (Denise) of Middle Island, New York and Gary Bugge (Diana Yngstrom-Bugge) of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Christ Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Bridget Coffey officiating.
