Owen D. Ludwig, 80, of Berryville, Virginia passed away, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Ludwig was born in 1936, in Rio, West Virginia, the son of the late William and Lena Ludwig. Owen was employed for 41 years working with Dr. Boyd at Cloverdale Farm. He then went to Indian Hollow School employed as a custodian, retiring in 2003. Owen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was a simple man and had simple pleasures in life. He was passionate about the great outdoors, gardening, tractors of all shapes and sizes and especially his faithful friend, his yellow lab, Chance. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Ludwig married Maxine Snow on February 24, 1957 in Williamsport, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Joan Hicks and her husband, Chandler of Berryville, Virginia, and his son Jamie Ludwig of Haw River, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Joey, Staci, Amber and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Kai, Scout, Cohen and Aiden; a brother, Wayne Ludwig and his wife, Janet of Gore, Virginia; as well as many extended family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. A reception will follow the service at Omps Reception Center. Interment will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
