Dear Renner Family: Sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of my dear friend Murrell. He was a great guy with a wonderful smile and kind heart. He touched so many lives. Murrell and I worked together on the Virginia State Highway Department and we enjoyed some really happy times. One day we made a bet on who would win a mile race, which I won, and of course took advantage of bragging rights to never let him forget it. Every time I’m riding down the road and pass the survey party for VDOT, I think of my dear friend Murrell. He will always have a special place in my heart. He loved his family and he loved God. He will surely be missed. Thanks for the memories, Murrell, and thanks for your enduring friendship that lasted over 60 years. To the Renner Family, God bless you and please know we have you in our thoughts and prayers. Your friend always, Russ Potts Former Senator, 27th District of Virginia (1992-2008)

Betty Ann Journell left a message on June 7, 2020:
Murrell was my friend, my hero, my champion. He volunteered for me at the Frederick County Center. He was my "go to " driver, ice cream maker, bread pick upper, book keeper, money manager, , with a bit of sarcasm thrown in when necessary. there were day at the center if I dis not have Murrell and Betty to lean on , I would be in BIG DO DO. Never did you want to ask Murrell his opinion, unless you wanted the truth. This was a good man , a special man. I am proud to call him my friend . I loved this good man. He was special...

May God bless you richly with His presence.
