Melvin D. Fawcett

Melvin Dewey Fawcett, 84, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Westminster Canterbury.

Mr. Fawcett was born in 1927, in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Robert D. and Bertha Fawcett. He was a retired School Administrator of Frederick County School System where he served as a teacher and an Assistant Principal at James Wood High School. Later he became a Purchasing and Maintenance Agent for the Frederick County Schools. Mr. Fawcett was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class for many years. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Fawcett was a graduate of Shepherd College and received a Master’s Degree from Madison College.

He married Virginia Lee Canton on August 3, 1951, at Bethesda Methodist Church near Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

All services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
