Melinda Sue Riley Mundell, 66 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at her home.
Melinda was born in Cumberland, MD in 1958, the daughter of the late Sammy and Alice Riley. She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1976. After graduation she attended Lord Fairfax Community College. Melinda worked at Rubbermaid for 20 years and then went on to become a teachers aid at Armel Elementary School, a job she took great pride in. She retired from teaching in 2024. Melinda was a member of First Christian Church where she was part of the Outreach Committee. She loved animals and most of all she loved the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, James Irving Mundell II, daughter, Sara Alyssa Mundell, brother, Sammy L. Riley, Jr. (Joyce), uncle, Steven W. Wilson (Linda), niece, Susan L. Riley, cousin, Heather H. Wilson and numerous other family members.
A visitation will be held for Melinda on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 4pm to 6pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A visitation will be held at 1pm with a memorial service to be conducted at 2pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at First Christian Church.
