Maxine Fletcher Shifflett, 79 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center.

Maxine was born in 1944 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Malcolm Wilfred Fletcher and Marion Lillian (Knauff) Lewandowski. She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1962. Maxine worked as a secretary for Church of Christ at Mountain View. She was an animal lover and was devoted to her family.

She married Glenn Robert Shifflett on November 17, 1969 in Brunswick, MD. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2015.

Maxine is survived by daughters, Kimberly D. Sibert (Gary, Jr.) of Winchester, VA, Denise M. Aikens of Winchester, VA; son, Dean A. Shifflett of Winchester, VA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Gochar of Winchester, VA; brother, Mark Fletcher of Maryland; and niece, Natasha Gochar.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Ronald Jackson and David Fletcher.

A memorial service will be held for Maxine on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 3pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Officiating will be Evangelist Richard Rexrode.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maxine to Esther Boyd Animal Shelter, 161 Fort Collier Road, Winchester, VA 22603.
