Marylen “Nanny” Chodak, 82, of Winchester, VA passed away April 22, 2021 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Marylen was born June 27, 1938 in New York, NY the daughter of the late Harold Heffert and Marie (Beck) Heffert. She was a graduate of John Adams High School in New York and worked as an Administrative Aide with the 111th Precinct of the New York Police Department. Marylen was a parishioner at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, a member of the Sacred Heart Senior’s and a member of the Winchester Area Newcomers Club (WANC). She loved playing BINGO, playing cards, reading and in her younger years bowling.
She married Gerard Chodak in April 1988 in New York and he preceded her in death in 2006.
In addition to her parents and husband Marylen was also preceded in death by her sister Celeste Farrell and a brother Harold Heffert.
She is survived by her two daughters Maureen Diana (Peter) and Donna Arif; four grandchildren Kevin Diana (Chris Marbaker), Matthew Diana (Chelsea), Cynthia Rodgers and Crystal Rodgers; two great grandchildren Sophie Diana and Avery Diana; and also survived by her nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass Friday, April 30 at 2:00pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Holmes celebrating. Interment will be private in New York at a later date.
