Mary Margaret Echols, 90 of Dayton, VA passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 peacefully at her home.
Mary was born in Tazewell County, VA in 1931 the daughter of the late Edward and Hazel Rose. She worked as a LPN/Senior Tax Specialist for H&R Block and at home. She was a dietician at Winchester Medical Center and cashier at WalMart. Mary was a member of the Professional Women’s Club in Winchester for many years and she and her late husband, Arnold owned A&M Antiques for 29 years. Mary enjoyed antiquing with her husband, Arnold, restoring furniture pieces and attending antique shows and auctions. She and Arnold enjoyed getting out in the mornings and caring for their flowers.
She married Arnold L. Echols, Sr. on October 8, 1952 in Harrisburg, VA. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2022.
Mary is survived by her children, Sandra Van Natter (Hugh) of Winchester, VA, Diana Lichliter (Harry) of Dayton, VA, Donna Stottlemyer of Clear Brook, VA, Raymond Echols of Winchester, VA, Eunice Chaffin (Donald) of Ashland, KY, William Echols of Harrisburg, PA, Patricia Sensel of Falling Waters, WV and Dianna Gosselin (Bill) of Manchester, NH; twenty three grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Debbie Davidson (Lou) of Lucedale, MS, Ruthie Spinks (Arthur) of Colonial Beach, VA; brothers, Beverly Rose (Fairy) of Richmond, VA, David Rose (Patty) of Warrenton, VA and Warren Rose of Martinsburg, WV.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold; sons, Arnold Lee Echols, Jr., Robert Wayne Echols; grandsons, Brent Stottlemyer, Jeremy Sensel; sisters, Pauline Pope, Nancy Reece; brothers, Roger Rose, James Rose, Donald Rose, Darrell Rose and Eugene Rose.
A visitation will be Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day on Friday, December 23, 2022 all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum. Officiating will be Pastor Bubbie Headley.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Van Natter, Demetrius Van Natter, Harry Lichliter, Robert Echols, Matthew Combs and Arnold Echols, III.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst St, Winchester, VA 22601 for Mary’s funeral expenses.
