Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Balda, 76, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Facility.
Mrs. Balda was born in Ft. Meade, South Dakota, the daughter of the late Roy and Celia Clinton. She graduated from Strayer University, earning an Associate’s degree in Accounting. Mrs. Balda enjoyed living at Lake Frederick and the friends that she and her husband had made. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Her husband, Maj. Jerome F. Balda, US Army, Ret., whom she married on March 7, 1964 in Erlangen, Germany preceded her in death in 2016.
Surviving are sons, Larry Balda (fiancé, Diane Muldowney) of Locust Grove, Virginia, Jay Balda (Jennifer) of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and James Balda (Sharon) of Ashburn, Virginia; granddaughters, Erin and Teagan Balda; grandsons, Dillon, Nicholas, Jameson, Jeremy, Quinlan, and Calvin Balda; and brother, Richard Clinton of Outer Banks, North Carolina.
Along with her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Clinton.
A visitation will be from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral mass will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Reverend Bjorn Lundberg officiating. A reception will follow the mass at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
