Mary H. “Mamoo” (Goins) Staples, 97, of Inwood, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at her home.
Mrs. Staples was born in 1921 in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry and Mattie Goins. She was the owner/operator of Ace Pawn in Washington, D.C. and owner of Gore Motel.
Her husband, Channing D. Staples, whom she married on July 28, 1979 in Mt. Rainer, Maryland preceded her in death in 1990. Her first husband, Kenneth Harmon, preceded her in death in 1954.
Surviving are daughters, Bessie Blankenship (David) and Freda Powers; grandchildren, William Larry McCullough, Clay D. Powers, Mary L. McCullough, and Kenneth McCullough; ten great grandchildren; nine great, great grandchildren; sister, Nannette Robertson; and brother Claude Goins.
Mrs. Staples was preceded in death by son-in-law, William Powers; sister, Bonnie Malone; and brothers, Ray, Guy, and Roy Goins.
A visitation will be from 12 pm to 1 pm on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with a funeral service at 1 pm with Reverend James Schuelke officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
