Mary Ellen Harshbarger, 87, of Winchester, VA, formerly of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 30, 2024, at Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, VA.
Ms. Harshbarger was born in Confluence, PA, to Edna (Seese) and Walter Harshbarger. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Marra (Edward), Ruthi Lee (Sid), Walter Pike (Bethany), and Jerrold Pike, Sr. (Laura). Ms. Harshbarger is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jay, Katie, Jessica, Travis, Anthony, Naomi, Nikki, Katonna, Montana, Robbie, and Hannah; sixteen great grandchildren; and sister, Marie Moyers of Brewton, AL.
Along with her parents Ms. Harshbarger is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Pike; sister, Shirley Kisasonak; and former husbands, Paul Fike and Robert Pike.
Mary earned her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater College and spent her life as a bookkeeper for various businesses. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children. She enjoyed Bingo, singing, crafts, puzzles, genealogy and attending the Winchester Senior Center. Mary was a member of Uniontown Church of the Brethren in Pennsylvania.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Bill Orndoff officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made in Mary’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, #400, McLean, VA 22102.
