Mary Libby Kelley, 81 of Winchester, VA passed on Wednesday October 2, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Libby was born in 1943 in Black Rock, Arkansas, the eldest of 7 children of the late Curtis and Marian Ring.
After her three sons graduated from college, Mary Libby went back to school at Arkansas State University where she graduated with an Associate of Science degree and was a certified phlebotomist. She spent many years working in the banking industry. She also worked as a general manager/owner-operator in the restaurant business. As a lifelong Christian, she has attended many churches throughout her life, including Black Rock Assembly of God, Hayfield Assembly of God, Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, and Greenwood United Methodist Church.
Mary Libby loved spending time with her family and friends, most especially her grandchildren, and loved to travel. She would go anywhere, anytime with her family and friends when she was invited, and sometimes invited herself. No matter where she was, she was the true meaning of a good Samaritan. She treated everyone she met like family and ministered to friends, family, patients in hospitals and nursing homes, and those homebound.
She married Walton Cleo Kelley in Jonesboro, AR in the summer of 1980, and he preceded her in death in December of 2020. Mary Libby is survived by her children, Mike Mills (Sandy) from Yorktown, VA, Steve Mills (Judy) from Gainesboro, VA, Danny Mills (Tammy) from Hume, VA, Karen Kelley from Jonesboro, AR, and Michael Kelley (John Paul) from Little Rock, AR; grandchildren Jeremy Mullins, Jr., Christopher Petty, Amber Petty, Jared Smith, Aric Mills, Brandon Mills, Paige Mills, Eli Mills, Tayte Mills and Caden Mills; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Larry Ring, Tom Ring, and Paul Ring; sisters Beth Ring, and Ina Ring; and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Mary Libby is preceded in death by her first husband Richard Harlan Mills, daughter Vicki Kelley, grandson Chad Mullins, brother Curt Ring, and sisters Carol Warden and Pam Russell.
A visitation will be held for Mary Libby Kelley on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 11am – 12pm, followed by a celebration of life at 12pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Aric Mills, Kirstin Mills, Brandon Mills, Meredith Mills, Paige Mills, Eli Mills, Tayte Mills and Caden Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary Libby Kelley to Blue Ridge Hospice 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, VA, 22601, or to a church of your choice.
