Mary Elethia Jones Moulden, 87, of Winchester, Virginia went home to meet the Lord on Thursday, September 2, 2010.
One of five children, Elethia was born January 14, 1923 in Rileyville, Virginia to the late Ernest Winfield Jones and Margaret May Jones. An alumnus of Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia, she was a member of the Class of 1939. Married on December 24, 1940 to late Howard K. Moulden, she was a loving wife, mother of five children, grandmother of 16, great-grandmother of 24 and, great-great-grandmother of one.
Elethia retired from National Fruit Products in 1983, after enjoying a 25 year career as an office staff member. She earned her Geriatric Certified Nursing Aide License in 1982 and worked as an elder care-giver for 20 years.
Strong in her faith, she was a devoted Christian and member of the Galilee Christian Church in Clear Brook, VA, where she served as a teacher for Sunday school and Bible school, was a member of the Ladies Circle, and member of the Board of Directors.
As an active member of her community, she was a member of the Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary and a strong supporter, volunteer and great fan of the Winchester Royals Baseball Team. She often opened her home to those in need of housing and donated generously to Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
She is survived by four children -her daughter, Barbara Moulden Palmer and husband Staymon, Gerrardstown, WV; Three sons, Donald Moulden and wife Sherella, Winchester, VA; Robert Moulden and wife Denise, Plymouth, NC; and Kenneth Moulden and wife Connie, Berryville, VA. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; along with 24 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
Elethia was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Howard K Moulden, April 1978; son, David L. Moulden of Clearbrook, VA, December 2009; and great-grandson Luke Woolard, Williamston, NC, November 2009; sister, Iva Virginia Jones; brother, Ashby Thomas Jones; and brother, Azriah Booten Jones.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, at Opms Funeral Home – Amherst Chapel, with Reverends Donald and Robert Moulden officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, WV.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Moulden’s grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8PM at Omps Funeral Home – Amherst Chapel.
Mary Elethia Jones Moulden spent her final days surrounded by family and under the care of Blue Ridge Hospice Center.
