Mary Odetta Bucher, 97, of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Spring Arbor.
Mary was born in 1928 in Berryville, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lula Cooper.
She married Harry J. Bucher on November 17, 1950, at Braddock Street United Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1995.
Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed being with family and treating them to her homemade streusel cake. She was an avid fan of the football team from Washington and her calendar was always marked, not wanting to miss a game.
Mary was proud of her grandchildren and of all their accomplishments. Always remembering birthdays and celebrating graduations. Seeing pictures of her first great-grandchild brought her joy.
She has missed her beloved husband, Harry these past 30 years. As she did not drive, he took her many places to sightsee, to visit family and friends (taking her favorite rocking chair on overnight visits), or to spend an evening at a Wolf Trap performance.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Patti Bucher Culhane (Patrick) of Annandale, VA; son, James A. Bucher (Roberta) of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Kathleen and Rebecca Culhane of Annandale, VA, and Adam S. Bucher (Alice) of Burke, VA and great-granddaughter, Daphne Bucher.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her sisters, Hilda Racey, Pauline Brown and Georgia Peffer and her brothers, Frank, Edward, William “Buck”, Douglas, and Robert Cooper.
Respecting Mary’s wishes, interment took place on Monday, December 15, 2025, in Shenandoah Memorial Park with only family present and arrangements were entrusted to Omps Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Blue Ridge Care, 333 W. Cork St., Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
