Mary Ann W. Benedett
Mary Ann Weirich Benedett, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, February 13, 2012, in her home.
Mrs. Benedett was born in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles Nelson and Isabel Weirich. She was a Registered Nurse and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester. Mary Ann was a two time president of the Winchester Frederick Clarke Republican Women’s Club. She was also Treasurer of the Frederick County Republican Committee for many years, and was Chairman of the No Child Left Behind program for the Virginia Federation of Republican Women. Mary Ann was president of the Welcome Wagon in West Hartford Connecticut; and she was on the New Comer board of the Kansas City Women’s Center for the University of Missouri, as well as a Girl Scout Leader for over 15 years.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas Benedett.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Kathryn Lupoli and husband, Robert, of Westport, Connecticut, Jean Matich and husband, Nicholas, of McLean, Virginia, Karen Greenzaid and husband, Michael, of Potomac, Maryland; son, Frank Benedett and wife, Coleen, of Knoxville, Tennessee; five grandchildren; Nicholas, Emily, Alexandra, Nathaniel and William, and one great grandchild; Thomas.
One brother, William Weirich, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00-3:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
