Mary Alice Rhoten, 73, of Frederick County, Virginia passed Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Rhoten was born in 1943 in Hollywood, Maryland, the daughter of the late William and Gladys Tippett. She was a Quality Control Technician at Greenbay Packaging, retiring in 2007. Mrs. Rhoten was a devoted member of White Hall United Methodist Church where she participated with both the choir and Bible study groups. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. She will be forever remembered for her love of faith, family and the great outdoors including butterflies, birds and dolphins. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband, Eugene Maynard Rhoten, whom she married on October 31, 1967 in Winchester, Virginia preceded her in death on September 11, 2000.
Surviving are daughters, Sandra Rhoten of Belton, South Carolina, Constance Florentino and her husband Jorge’ of Belton, South Carolina, Donna Knight and her husband, Bob Huntsberry of Winchester, Virginia, Nancy Luttrell of Winchester, Virginia, Susan Schlitter and husband, Dennis of Crestview, Florida, Melissa Sayre and husband, Jon of Penn Laird, Virginia; sons, Timothy Rhoten and his wife Sandra of Palm Coast, Florida, George Knight and wife, Linda of Holt, Florida, Harold Knight and wife, Viviane of Browntown, Virginia; brother, James Tippett and wife, Barbara of Hollywood, Maryland; twenty-one grandchildren and many great grandchildren as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Mrs. Rhoten was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Gray and brother, Roger Tippett.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Tom Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
