Mark R. Secrist, II, 30, of Winchester, Virginia, made his triumphant entry into Heaven on Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Winchester.

Mark was born in 1987 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Mark and Mary Rose Secrist. Mark achieved the rank of Eagle Scout by completing his Eagle Scout Project in July 2005 at Weaver Park which provided fencing, Leyland Cypress Tree plantings, and the rock displaying Weaver Park. He attended Lord Fairfax Community College. Mark was a man of many talents. As an accomplished pianist, he composed original works and enjoyed playing a variety of musical instruments. He loved astronomy, nature, chemistry, and snowboarding. Mark was baptized as a Christian.

Surviving with his parents are sisters, Rachel Secrist Doyle of Euless, Texas, Rebekah Mary Secrist Hudson (David) of Sandy’s, Bermuda, Sarah Grace Secrist (Cory Schaffer) of Keller, Texas, and Hannah Faith Secrist of Radford, Virginia; and brother, John Mark Secrist of Cary, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Dale Zilke officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mark’s memory to Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy, 203 South Cameron Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

There Will Be Light. I love you, my Son.

My Sweet Son, I miss you so terribly. Thank you for all the joy you brought me. Thank you for all you taught me about life. I know that where you are, someday I shall also be. May God grant you sweet repose. I love you for all eternity.

Angela Shifflett please accept my condolences. Mark and I worked together st both Wal-Mart in Front Royal and Cracker Barrel in Winchester. Mark was an outstanding guy. He always made me laugh. May God bless all of you, I know this is so very hard.

My favorite mentor was a centaur. I see you everywhere. I met someone who claimed we could see ghosts and talk to spirits, he told me he saw a beautiful and gentle male spirit lingering just behind me, he said he could tell he was someone who loved me and wanted to protect me. I knew he was speaking of you. I wish I could share my life with you. I’ll find you in the next realm, I see you in a forest near a pool clear water with geodes cover the bottom, where the moon always shines directly over, a crystal moon pool, surrounded by pines, and playing your flute. Oh how I adore you.

My Precious Son, I think about you all the time. Thank you for the immeasurable joy you brought to me in your life. You are still my hero, and I love you more than life itself. I miss you so terribly. You live forever in my heart.
