Marilyn “Lonnie” Adams Norman, 88, of Winchester, Virginia died Friday, July 29, 2016 at her home.
Mrs. Norman was born on February 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Warren L. and Florence Adams. She was a graduate of Bucknell University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. As a young adult, Lonnie worked as a Statistician for Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company in New York City and subsequently as a civilian for the U.S. Army in post-war West Germany, where she met her future husband and love of her life. She was a member of Catoctin Garden Club, Phi Mu Sorority at Bucknell University, and an alter guild at St. James Episcopal Church and Church of Our Saviour Oatlands in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Mrs. Norman married Robert A. Norman, Jr. on December 7, 1958 in Munich, Germany, and would have been married for 58 years this December.
Along with her husband, Lonnie is survived by her daughters, Jan N. Potts and husband, Bill of Phoenixville, PA and Kimberly N. Nelson and husband, David of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Benjamin M. Potts and wife, Jessica of Havertown, PA, Michael R. Potts and wife, Lucy of Devon, PA, Jeffrey W. Potts of Phoenixville, PA, David F. Nelson, Jr. of Arlington, VA, Marilyn M. Nelson of Bristol, CT, and Peter N. Nelson of Charleston, WV; great grandchild, Clara Beth Potts of Havertown, PA; cousins, Mary E. Earle of Tucson, AZ and Peter S. Earle and wife, Shirley of Apalachin, NY.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00pm-1:00pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 2:00pm at the Chapel at Westminster Canterbury, 300 Westminster Canterbury Drive, Winchester, Virginia 22603 with Rev. James A. Basinger, Rev. Larry Lawhon and Rev. Elizabeth Lewis officiating. Inurnment will be at Church of Our Saviour Oatlands at a later date.
