Mallaveene W. Lake, 85, of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017.
Mrs. Lake was born in 1931, in Doman, WV, the daughter of the late Vincent Wilson and Mary Oates Wilson. She was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church in Winchester, VA. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide for Frederick County Schools, but her work as a wife, mother, and grandmother was her greatest joy.
Her husband, Jack H. Lake, whom she married on December 11, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lake is survived by her daughter, Gail L. Lucas (Jay); son, Jack L. Lake (Mary); five grandchildren, Anna Schey (Nick), Jacob Lucas, Jesse Lake (Tara), Jedediah Lake (Leigh Anne), and Jason Lake; five great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Weir; and brother, Maynard Wilson.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen H. Lake.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Shenandoah Memorial Park Cemetery.
