Major Christian F. “Chris” Kiene, USMC, Retired, 88, of Stephenson, Virginia passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.

Chris was born in 1930 in New York, New York, the son of the late Christian and Anna Kiene. He attended University of Maryland and was a veteran of the United States Marines having served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, achieving the rank of Major and received many service awards. Chris was a manager at AT&T and an Electronics Technician with the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 20 years of service with each. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

He married Carolyn L. Ryder on December 16, 1950 in Washington, D.C.

Surviving with his wife of 67 years is a daughter, Catherine S. Bell; grandson, Joseph M. Hawse and wife, Jen White; sister-in-law, Kathleen Stone; and brother-in-law, Harold Ryder.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Elizabeth Lyford, Diana Beechey and son, William Kiene.
