Louise G. Hower
Louise Elizabeth (Gordon) Hower, 77, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mrs. Hower was born in 1936 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Jesse D. and Evelyn E. Gordon. She was a graduate of Handley High School, Class of 1955, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. She was a devoted homemaker and a very giving person who never met a stranger. She loved her Lord and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Her husband, Daniel Eugene Hower, whom she married on March 8, 1956 in Elkton, MD, preceded her in death on December 23, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, David F. Hower and wife Lesley, Carl E. Hower, II and George G. Hower and wife Donna, all of Winchester, VA; a daughter, Kimberly Hower Dicks and husband William, of Inwood, WV; five grandchildren, Shannon L. Hower, Stephanie M. Lane and husband Alex, and Derek C. Hower, all of Winchester, Daniel Dicks of Inwood, WV and Erika Howells of Manassas, VA; four great grandchildren; a sister, Nancy McFarland of Bristow, VA, and two brothers, Ronald Gordon and wife Marian, of Albin, VA and Bruce Gordon of Frederick, MD.
Mrs. Hower was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Hower and a sister, Juanita Rogers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel on Saturday with Pastor Joan Rainsberger officiating. Private entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
