Louise B. (Bell) Lyons
Louise B. (Bell) Lyons, 93, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, October 14, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Lyons was born in 1923, in Berryville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Alice and Leonard H. Bell, Sr. She was a chemist for DuPont in Richmond, Virginia during World War II and was a teacher in Atlanta, Georgia and Fairfax County, Virginia. She was a member of the Braddock Street United Methodist Church where her husband served as minister from 1963-1971. She was a Sunday School Teacher and was very involved with other aspects of the Church after his death. She was also a member of the Lord Fairfax Garden Club, and the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Her husband, Dr. William A. Lyons (Braddock Street UMC 1963-1971), whom she married on June 14, 1947 at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church, in Berryville, Virginia, preceded her in death on December 12, 1981.
Mrs. Lyons is survived by her two daughters, Barbara L. Kahler M.D. (Richard, Ph.D.) and Nancy L. Sargeant (Tim); son, William “Wim” B. Lyons (Peggy); six grandchildren, Leslie L. Reading (Chris), W. Craig Lyons, Stephanie L. Prothro (Evan), Dustin A. Kahler, Emily H. Sargeant, and Eric W. Sargeant; four great-grandchildren, Adah Reading, Lucia Reading, Owen Prothro, and Hunter Prothro; and by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her brother, Leonard “Buddy” H. Bell, Jr. and his wife Mary.
The family will have received friends on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Reception Center, Winchester, Virginia.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date at Braddock Street United Methodist Church.
Interment will be private.
