Lorna Cecilia (Ballenger) Houston, 72, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018, at her home.
Mrs. Houston was born in 1946 in Wakefield, England, the daughter of the late Gladys Hall Ballenger Coffman. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Shenandoah University and retired from Winchester Medical Center, after a career in the operating room and the endoscopy department. Mrs. Houston was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and of the Widows Group. She enjoyed reading and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Houston was of the Baptist faith.
Her husband, Clyde Lee Houston, whom she married on September 29, 1963 preceded her in death in 2002.
Surviving is her daughter, Loralie H. Hicks and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Troy, Mason, and Eva Hicks; sister, Freda K. Yoder and husband, Jan; loving nieces, nephew, and many dear and close friends, including her best friend, Phyllis Russell; and her beloved dog, Nellie.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deena Cecilia Houston; a sister, Carol B. Loy; and a niece, Anne Marie Loy.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be private.
