Lonnie Cecil Mountcastle, 63, of Stephens City, Virginia died Friday, August 22, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Mountcastle was born in 1951 in Fairfax, Virginia, the son of the late Cecil and Irene Mountcastle. He was a heavy machinery mechanic for McCarthy Tires in Winchester, VA until his retirement in 2012. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and The Heritage Foundation. He was also an avid fisherman and Civil War expert, who contributed articles to several Civil War publications.
He is survived by his daughter, Adina Marie Proffitt; two sisters, Joanne Ewell and her husband, JR, and Barbara Santmeyer; a brother, Emmett Thomas “Tommy” Mountcastle; his first wife, Regenia Ann Mountcastle and second wife, Shelby Jean. Lonnie is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends including his best friend and neighbor Kay James.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Upperville, VA.
