On June 7, 2014, Linda Catherine Zawacki, 61, of Winchester, VA, went from the loving arms of her
partner to be folded in the loving arms of God. Linda was born on September 2, 1952, in Chicago, IL. Her
family moved to San Diego, CA, when she was 13. After high school Linda served 4 years in the Air Force
in order to help pay for her college degree. She graduated from California Polytechnic Institute with a
degree in mathematics and engineering. After college she was hired by Martin Marietta in Lompoc, CA,
as a software engineer on NASA’s space shuttle program. In 1984 she moved to northern VA to work on
the company’s FAA contract. While working for Martin Marietta she was sent to Ottawa in Canada for
two years to set up Martin Marietta Canada. She finished her career with Lockheed Martin as a VP and
project manager in April of 2008, receiving many awards along the way. She was preceded in death by
her father, Joseph Zawacki, her mother, Ellen Zawacki and her brother, Bruce Zawacki. She will be
greatly missed by her brother, Rick, and his wife JoAnn, her nephews Richard and Christopher and her
nieces, Angela Foulk and Zoe Zawacki, her sisters-in-law, Michele Lefevre and Candace Brown, her
brother-in-law, Albert Brown, so many dear bunco, bridge, Blue Ridge and Winchester Democratic
friends and a multitude of old and new friends she has made during her life’s journey. She made friends
easily and was the life of many a party. She will be especially missed by her spouse and partner of 28
years, Carol Lefevre. Linda was a great lover of animals, especially her puppies. She loved walking her
dogs, Charlie and Bailey, along the section of the green belt of Winchester which connects with Jubal
Early. As she got weaker, she said that there ought to be another bench for people to rest on. A bench
will be placed there in her memory. In lieu of flowers, Linda requested that you give a donation to Blue
Ridge Hospice, Winchester, VA, or a charity of your choice. A service to honor her will take place ,
Saturday, June 14 at 11:00 am at St Paul’s on the Hill Episcopal Church, 1527 Senseny Rd, Winchester,
