Lewis A. “Doc” Williams, 79, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
Lewis was born in 1938 in Mt. Williams, Virginia, the son of the late Noel and Beulah Williams. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1956 and a veteran of the United States Army achieving the rank of SP-4 and was awarded the Sharpshooter award. Doc was manager at Acme Supermarket from where he retired after 30 years of service. He also worked at Crown, Cork & Seal, Advance Auto Parts, Rental Depot, and Kraft Foods. Doc was a jack-of-all trades who enjoyed being outdoors and helping others. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frederick County, Virginia.
His wife, Shirley Snapp Williams, whom he married on November 9, 1956 in Frederick County, Virginia preceded him in death in 1995.
Surviving is a son, Rickie A. Williams (Donna) of Clear Brook, Virginia; daughters, Carol D. Ritenour (Cois) of Winchester, Virginia and Christine D. Williams (Jake Watts) of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Amanda M. Ritenour of Winchester, Virginia and Benjamin C. Williams of Clear Brook, Virginia; and brother, Alfred M. Williams of Winchester, Virginia.
Along with his parents and wife, Doc was preceded in death by brothers, William Harding and Earl C. Williams.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Sonya Williams-Giersch and Dave Owings officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
