Leota May Moulden, 98, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Fox Trail Senior Living Facility.
Mrs. Moulden was born in 1918 in Illinois, the daughter of the late John and Millie Showalter. She retired from Doubleday Publishing Company where she worked in the shipping department. Mrs. Moulden was an avid quilter and gardener and was a member of Brucetown Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, as well as traveling. Mrs. Moulden was known for making fudge and homemade wine. She also was a member of White Hall United Methodist Church in Frederick County, Virginia.
Her husband, Lester Charles Moulden, whom she married in 1938 in Maryland preceded her in death in 1982.
Surviving are daughters, Judy Taylor (Herb), Shirley Strosnider (James) and Phyllis “Monkee” Proffitt (Jimmy); son, Donald W. Moulden (Melvina) all of Frederick County, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
Mrs. Moulden was the last survivor of eight children. Preceding her in death were siblings, Virginia Perry, Clifford Showalter, Roxie Garber, Ticie Showalter, Clyde Showalter, Sr., Mary Frances Wilkins, and Betty Brackensick.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
