Auctioneer Leon W. Strosnider
Leon Wilbur Strosnider, 70, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.
Leon was born in 1943 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Nevaline Strosnider of Stephens City and the late Wilbur Joseph Strosnider. He was a graduate of James Wood High School and Reisch Auctioneering School in Mason City, Iowa. He was a self-employed Auctioneer for over 43 years, a lifelong member of Refuge United Methodist Church and a member of the Clarke County Ruritan. He was passionate about auctioneering and was the first auctioneer in the local area to attend auctioneering school. Leon enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandsons and loved helping his family, friends and neighbors.
He married Mary Ritter Shepard on February 8, 1964 at Refuge UMC in Stephens City, recently celebrating their Golden Anniversary.
Surviving with his mother and his wife are two sons, Scott Shepard Strosnider, Seth Danner Strosnider, both of Stephens City, Virginia, two grandsons, Hunter Strosnider, Colt Bauserman; two sisters, Dianne Garber of Stephens City, Donna McFarland of Winchester, brother, Ronald Strosnider of Wardensville, West Virginia, special aunt, June DeHaven, numerous nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
One son, Todd Schofield Strosnider and two granddaughters, Jessica Lynn Strosnider and Brittany Loy Strosnider, preceded him in death.
Prior to the service, family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 4:00-6:45 PM at Refuge United Methodist Church.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, at Refuge United Methodist Church, with Reverend John E. Lock officiating. Interment will be private.
