Larry R. Hepner
Larry Rufus Hepner, 83, of Front Royal, VA died Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Silverado Senior Living Home in San Diego, California home town of his youngest daughter.
Mr. Hepner was born in 1932, in Wiley Ford, West Virginia, the son of the late Orlan and Anna Hepner. He was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School in West Virginia. He was a veteran, having served honorably in the Army Signal Corps during the time of the Korean War. He then began a 40 year career employed by Virginia Telephone and Telegraph Company, followed by Centel, then Sprint telephone companies of Front Royal, VA. During this time he attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and was an active member of the American Legion Post 53, both in Front Royal.
He was a supportive husband to his wife, Colleen Gemmill Hepner, whom he married on October 27, 1956. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2006.
Mr. Hepner is survived by two daughters, Sandi Mazzilli of San Diego, CA and Kim Hepner of Richmond, VA; son-in-law, Mike Mazzilli, three grandchildren, Grace Mazzilli, Sydney Mazzilli and Ava Mazzilli, all of San Diego, CA and two sisters, Carol Jean Hammitt of Ventura, CA and Joanne Creller of Seattle, WA.
A graveside service will be conducted early this summer, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Shenandoah Memorial Park with Mike and Sandi Mazzilli officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
