Kenny Patrick Burcham, age 54, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia died Friday, August 22, 2014, in Maryland as a result of an automobile accident.

Mr. Burcham was born on December 1, 1959 in Winchester, Virginia.

He was the only son of Rufus (Sonny) Kenny Burcham, Jr. and Darnell Patrick Burcham of Winchester, VA and the son-in-law of John Christian, Sr and wife Lolita Reid Christian of Stephens City, VA.

He married Cathy Denise Christian on May 21, 1989 at Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church in Stephens City, Virginia. They have been married 25 wonderful years.

He was the owner and operator of Burcham’s Garage in Winchester, started in 1960 by his father, and proud to carry on the family business.

Kenny was a 1978 graduate of James Wood High School.

Kenny has been a bowler since 1970 and belonged to various bowling leagues.

He was a history buff enjoying Gettysburg and the Antietam battlefields. He loved his pets – Bear, Molly, TJ and Racer. He loved jazz music. Kenny enjoyed outdoor adventures, including hiking and biking up and down the East coast. He gave of his time to the Good Shepherd Caregivers in Jefferson County, WV as a Dialysis Team driver.

Along with his wife, Kenny is survived by

sister, Diana Heishman and husband Ken

sister, Debbie Galloway and husband, Chick

sister, Denise Christian and husband, Danny

sister, Donna (Susie) Malone

and large extended family including 13 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews

and many beloved friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his niece Sarah Elise Christian and his brother-in-law Roger Lee Malone,

Known for his giving, selfless nature, and dedication to his family and friends, he will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Van Marsceau officiating. Interment, at Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church, will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in Kenny’s memory be made to the non-profit organization, Good Shepherd Caregivers, PO Box 1882, Shepherdstown, West Virginia 25443.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Burcham family. We were so blessed to have known Kenny, he was a great friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I am so saddened by Kenny’s passing. He has worked on our vehicles for many years and there is no one I trust more or think more highly of. I was constantly amazed by his patience and kindness to me and my family. Kenny may not have called me his friend, but I certainly considered him to be my friend. I suspect every other customer feels the same. My deepest condolences to Sonny and the rest of the family. May God grant you His strength and peace.

Cathy, I was so sorry to hear of Kenny's accident (No one knows the sorrow of a shock like this unless you have had that experience). If I can be of any help or comfort to you in the future, please let me know. Kenny will be missed by many Particularly at the grill for the Reid Reunion He did ' such a great job. He can now grill those hamburgers and hot dogs for. GOD

Sorry for the Loss of Kenny,Prayers sent to the whole family Kenny was a great person in many ways.He will be missed by many.

My thoughts and prayers are with Cathy and Sonny and the Burcham Family. It was always a pleasure to see Kenny at his shop and he will be missed by so many. I only knew Kenny a couple years as he and Sonny serviced our work vehicles but I can honestly say he is one of the most honest and pleasant men I have ever met. Heaven is a better place these days and I bet he is smiling this very moment watching his family knowing they will all be reunited.

Such a hard thing to believe, Kenny was always quiet in school: such a kind person, never spoke bad about anyone. Prayers out to Sonny & Darnell.
