Kathleen S. Swing
Kathleen Snapp Swing, 98, of Frederick County, Virginia died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Swing was born in 1912, in Frederick County, Virginia the daughter of the late R. Benton and Martha Ellen Snapp. She was a former school teacher, homemaker and assisted on the family apple orchard. Mrs. Swing was a member of Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Winchester, the Women’s Virginia Horticultural Society and helped with local 4-H Club. She was a graduate of Madison Teachers College receiving a Bachelor of Education.
Her husband, James A. Swing, whom she married in July 1940, in Frederick County, Virginia, preceded her in death in April 1987.
Surviving is her son, J. Bruce Swing, his wife, Alexis, their daughters, Emily and Heather Swing, all of Winchester, Virginia. Her brother, Garland Snapp, preceded her in death in October 1994.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday with Elder Eddie Wayne Wilson and Elder Ernest Long officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Charles Sutphin, G. Kevin Fields, Chuck Drummonds, Rob Sutphin, Jay Sutphin and Wayne Snapp.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
