Katherine Frances Grace Arrigo Jeska, 93, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Westminster Canterbury Retirement Home. Mrs. Jeska was born in 1924, in North East, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Antoinette and Joseph Arrigo. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, VA, as well as, active in the community through the Parish Organization of Catholic Women and C-CAP. Mrs. Jeska was a graduate of Erie Conservatory of Music where she received a BA in Voice and was employed as a music teacher. She also became a certified dental technician and beautician. She enjoyed all types of music including Hawaiian, country, classical, and show tunes and loved to travel abroad. She was an “Army” wife, moving 27 times in her life and organizing children’s choirs and participating in many charities where she was stationed with her husband including the American Red Cross and Little Sisters of the Poor in Korea.
She married Ramone Stephen Jeska; he preceded her in death in 1989 having been a career Army Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) and helicopter and fixed wing pilot.
Surviving are her sisters, Josephine Kaufmann of Northeast, Pennsylvania and Antoinette Bova of Winchester, Virginia, as well as, several nephews and nieces.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Scozzie and brother, Russell Arrigo.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2018, from 1:00-3:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A rosary will be said at 2:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
