Katherine DeHaven Crump, 96, of Stephens City, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2021 at Greenfield Reflections.

Katie was born in 1925 in Middleway, WV to the late John and Lucy Burchell. She is a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1944, after graduation she worked at the Pentagon during the final stages of the war. Katie started working for Rubbermaid as a credit analyst in 1968 and retired in 1992. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and former member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church from 1946-1967 where she sang in the choir. Katie was also a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church form 1967-2004. She is the former president of the Winchester Pilot Club and was also a member of the Winchester Civic League. Katie loved traveling with her family and spent the next several years dedicating her life to her family as a mother and homemaker, she was known for her family’s favorite, baked macaroni and cheese.

Katie married William “Lomax” DeHaven, who preceded her in death in 1966, she went on to marry William E. “Bill” Crump, Sr. on July 25, 1970 at Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Bill preceded Katie in death in 2015.

Surviving are her children, Virginia “Ginny” DeHaven-Dawson (Larry) of Winchester, VA, William “Bill” DeHaven (Dana) of Stephens City, VA and Jay Wendell DeHaven (Terry) of Winchester, VA; step-daughter, Vickie Wisecarver (Jerry) of Middletown, VA; step-son, William “Bill” E. Crump, Jr. of Lake City, FL; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her husbands and parents, Katie is preceded in death by grandson, Daniel R. DeHaven; 5 sisters and 1 brother.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 1pm with a funeral service at 2pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Ritchie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Katie’s name may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 1941 Macedonia Church Rd., White Post, VA 22663.
