Julia V. Fishel Shiley, 92, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Shiley was born in 1925 in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late James and Virgie Lewis. She was a graduate of Stonewall High School. Mrs. Shiley was a clerk typist and retired from Project Hope. She was a member of Little Mountain United Methodist Church where she was a trustee, a member of United Methodist Women and the Weekday Religious Education Organization.
Her husband, Clarence Woodrow Shiley, preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Shiley’s former husband, Roy Franklin Fishel, preceded her in death in 1971.
Surviving is a son, Gary Franklin Fishel (Barbara) of Keezletown, Virginia; stepson, William Woodrow Shiley (Freida) of Frederick County, Virginia; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Fishel and brothers, Leo, Ardell Walter, and James Herman Lewis.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at Little Mountain United Methodist Church with Reverend Tommy Crosby and Reverend Penny Pelter officiating. Interment will be in Little Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Fishel, Dennis Fishel, Steve Fishel, Eric Fishel, Adam Fishel, and Reco Ford.
