On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Judith “Judy” Carrol Holdren Simpson passed away surrounded by her family. She was born on February 17, 1945, in Beckley, West Virginia. As a young professional, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she met her husband, Ross Simpson, with whom she shared 62 wonderful years, creating her home in Virginia.
Known affectionately as “Mimi” by those closest to her, Judy had a deep love for music, clothes, and especially for Rod Stewart. She had a fantastic sense of humor, loved telling jokes, and knew how to have a good time. Judy loved the beach and often said that nothing felt better than the sun on her skin. Summer weekends were spent gathering around her pool, and she made sure everyone felt welcome and well-fed.
Judy’s true legacy was not defined by her career achievements but by the love and dedication she devoted to her husband, four children, their spouses, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. They were her greatest joy, and nurturing and supporting them was her life’s work.
Mimi will be missed forever, but her love will stay with us always.
A private family service will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Quantico National Cemetery.
