J. P. Darlington
James Peyton “J.P.” Darlington, 98, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Darlington was born in 1914, in Gainesboro, Virginia, the son of the late Joshua M. and Elizabeth J. Darlington. He was the Owner of Darlington Motor Inn and J.P. Darlington Lumber for over 70 years. Mr. Darlington was a member of First Christian Church in Winchester. He was a member of the Mason Lodge in Middleway, West Virginia for 50 years and the Winchester Moose Lodge # 1283. Mr. Darlington was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1932.
He married Ruby Christine Swisher on April 11, 1932, in Hagerstown, Maryland. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2002.
Surviving is his daughter, Jammy C. Triplett; sons, James P. Carroll and James P. Poland; seven grandchildren, Robert P. Bowers, Brian P. Darlington, Kathy B. Eubank, Tiffany S. Lowery, Gregory P. Lowery, Joshua P. Triplett, Jason Poland; fourteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Francis Bagent.
Two daughters, Jean O. Darlington and Jo Anne Darlington, and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Clark, preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, in Ebenezer Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Rob Lovett and Pastor Joan Rainsberger officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
