Joseph M. Tollis
Joseph Michael Tollis 53, of Winchester, Virginia, died peacefully May 3rd, 2012, at his home with his wife and sons by his side.
Joe was born in 1958, in Johnstown, PA, the son of David and Nina Tollis. He married Janine Marie Rozich on October 3, 1981, in Johnstown, PA. Surviving with his parents and wife are two sons, Michael Joshua Tollis and Eric Matthew Tollis of Winchester, sisters, Kathryn Orlosky of Ephrata, PA, Mary Grace Hughes of Greensburg, PA, and brothers, Dave Tollis of Johnstown, PA, and Bill Tollis of Homer City, PA.
He was a carpenter for 30 years, owning and operating Tollis Renovations. Joe attended The Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA and was a talented singer and songwriter performing locally with Slim Jim and the Sloppy Joes as well as several bands in Johnstown..
. For the past 12 years, Joe shared his love of the outdoors by serving as a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 45. Joe was also an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree. He was an asset to the Catholic Diocese of Arlington Youth WorkCamp Program, using his carpentry skills to help carry out home repairs for local families in need. Joe was also a member of the Apple Valley Woodturners Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, May 7th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Tollis, Cyril Barch, Karl Haas, Joe Mikus, Roger Marchant, John Chowning and Mark Schloemer.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, from 4:00-7:00 pm with reciting of the Rosary at 6:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
Joe was a gentle soul who used his God given talents to the best of his ability to help others. He touched many lives with his carpentry and love for music. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
