Joseph Carlo “Sonny” Longo, Jr., 86, of Martinsburg, West Virginia passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Berkeley Medical Center, Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Mr. Longo was born in 1932 in Welch, West Virginia, the son of the late Maggie and Joseph Longo, Sr. He was a graduate of Welch High School and attended a vocational school where he learned the trade of welding. Mr. Longo was a veteran of the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Airmen 2nd Class. He was a welder for Pocahontas Fuel Company in Pocahontas, Virginia.
Mr. Longo enjoyed gardening, was an avid football fan and loved his dog, Maggie. He was of the Catholic faith.
His wife and love of his life, Rosa Longo, preceded him in death in 2017.
Surviving are sons, Joseph Longo, III (Dorothy) of Front Royal, Virginia, John Longo of Sterling, Virginia, and James “Jim” Longo of Martinsburg, West Virginia; daughters, Maria Riddle (Billy) of Rising Sun, Maryland, Margaret Guy of Sterling, Virginia, and Caroline Franklin (Michael) of Manassas, Virginia; grandchildren, Erica Wommack, Joseph Longo, IV, Dawn Schweickert, Sean Longo, Steven Longo, Mario Longo, Billy Riddle, Charlie Riddle, Jack McCall, and Logan Franklin; great grandchildren, Aaron, Anthony, Bailey, Alexis, Tony, Joseph, V; and sisters, Jeanette Campbell and Sonya Lester, both of West Virginia.
A graveside service will be at a later date in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery, Roderfield, West Virginia.
