Josef Adam Schmitt, age 91, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Winchester. Mr. Schmitt was born in 1923, in Germany.

He worked in construction as a pipe and steam fitter in New Jersey.

Mr. Schmitt is survived by his wife, Anni Schmitt, daughter, Otti Schmitt of Santa Clara, Utah, sons, Joseph Schmitt of Winchester, Virginia, and Peter Schmitt, of White Post, Virginia, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

All services with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, will be private.
