John Earl Van Daley, 64, died Friday, November 4, 2016, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
John was born in 1952 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Raymond E. and Mary E. Van Daley. He graduated from John Jay High School, later, graduating from Saint Leo College. John retired as Staff Sergeant from the United States Army after 22 years of service. He was proud of his military career serving in Germany and had a great desire to return there later in life. He enjoyed the martial arts learning Tae Kwon Do and Kempo. John had a strong passion for theology and became a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church. He was a talented musician, spending many hours playing keyboard, guitar and bass. He was a proud Nationals fan, but mostly loved his family – especially his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond E. Van Daley, Jr. Surviving is his wife Leslie Van Daley of Falling Waters, WV, his sister, Barbara Santo, of Fairfax, VA, his children, April “Nikki” Van Daley, of Falling Waters, WV, John W. Van Daley, of Frederick, MD and Brian Fox, of Martinsburg, WV, Britney Collins, of Panama City, FL; his grandchildren, Devon Owens, Landon Owens, Capria Caison, Jace Bennett, and Peyton Waters; and nieces and nephews, Sarah Shreve, Robert M. Keplinger, Adam Van Daley, James Santo, John Santo, Jennifer Lindsey, and Krystle Robinson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, 189 Parson Court, Winchester, VA.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Jeffrey Dillon officiating and John’s nephew, Reverend Adam Van Daley, assisting.
Interment with military honors will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
