John Sabanosh
John Sabanosh, 90, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Saturday January 21, 2012, in Blue Ridge Hospice.
Mr. Sabanosh, was born in 1921, in Hanusovce, Czechoslovakia, the son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Sabanosh.
John was a World War II veteran having served in over 17 major battles with the Navy. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and The Tin Can Sailors-The National Association of Destroyer Veterans. John was retired from the Federal Government in the FAA Department; he also was a life member of NARFE the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. John was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and in his spare time enjoyed gardening reading and woodworking. He was also known as an avid walker. He is a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many who will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Sabanosh married Grace Sabanosh on July 21, 2001, in Duncan Memorial Methodist Church in Berryville, Virginia. His previous wife Jean Sabanosh preceded him in death in 1995.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Jill Sabanosh Herb and husband Tom, of Chantilly, Virginia, Jean Lupinacci and husband William, of Oakton, Virginia and Janet Moore and husband John, of Stephens City, Virginia; two sons, John Sabanosh of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Stephen Sabanosh and wife Melanie, of Stephens City, Virginia; seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister Mary McDonald of Smyrna, Delaware.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Reverend Dr. James H. Utt officiating. Military honors will be afforded by VFW, Post 2123. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Frederick County, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
