John R. Himelright
Mr. John Rowland Himelright, 55, of Winchester, VA, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 10, 2012.
John, or “Ronnie” as he was affectionately known to his family, was born in 1957 in Winchester, VA the son of John Leo Himelright and the late Stella Mae Himelright.
John graduated from Wardensville High School in 1975, where he enjoyed participating in the FFA. He attended Shepherd College, received an Associate of Science degree from the University of the State of New York, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University.
John was employed as Accounting Manager with Guardian 24/7 Executive Services in Leesburg, VA. He began his management accounting career with Winchester and Western Railroad, continuing his profession in the trucking industry for several years with Commonwealth Express. He was the Controller of General Services, Inc. from 1992, and was the managing mortgage broker for their Sunset Mortgage division until 2008. Concurrently, he also had his own tax-preparation business, JRH Tax and Accounting.
John was a member of Willow Chapel United Methodist Church in Capon Springs, WV. He was a member of the Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Accountant Society of Virginia, and was a former member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers, where he had served on a main committee. He was an Accredited Tax Advisor, an Accredited Management Accountant, and a Registered Financial Consultant.
John enjoyed golfing and going on vacations and outings with his family. He was a firm believer in the family sitting down together every evening, and everyone sharing their daily experiences. He was a strong Christian, who taught his family to look for the best in others, and to always seek to understand the viewpoints of others around them. He will always be remembered for his ready wit.
John married Deborah Sibert on December 28, 1981 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife and his father is a son, John R. “Jack” Himelright, II.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Rob Kerr officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
