It will be hard for me to imagine not having my Sister-in-the-Lord to speak to on an almost daily basis. We talked frequently about the Lord. We talked about Heaven, the Fruit of the Spirit, the consequences of sin, God's providence, Faith, trials, and His Faithfulness to His Children. Joan was smart … and now she is experiencing the Wisdom of God in its full measure. She is seeing our Savior face-to-face and visiting with all those who have passed before her. It was her constant prayer that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would know and serve the Lord as she did. She was a great blessing to our ministry, Hope and Helps, and she will be mourned not only by us but by hundreds of saints in India. Through her love for those less fortunate than ourselves she gave generously to provide medicines to cure lepers, sponsored medical clinics for slum people, gave Bibles and food to slum children, and even payed to have a bore well dug in a village to provide clean water for everyone. Her heart was to help those who could not help themselves. It was her prodding and her initiative that started us on building the Clothes of Many Colors Sewing and Training Center in Rajahmundry, India. It was her desire to see woman thrive spiritually and to help support their families. Joan, although she didn't know it, was many times the encourager to keep us going when we were struggling. It was her tenacity and ability to always look at the impossible that has brought joy to many people she never knew personally. I will miss my friend. The scripture she gave us to put on a monument near the bore well she provided was this: "But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst." (John 4:14) Love you Joan !! Rest in Peace, our beloved friend, neighbor and sister in Christ, Joan. We will deeply miss our almost daily conversations and contacts with you and our happy times together. The most recent was to celebrate your 78th birthday with your friends at your favorite restaurant. We are saddened for our loss of your presence but rejoice with you now that your faith is made perfect in the Presence of God. Goodbye, dear friend. Let the Eternal Light of Jesus shine upon you and grant you peace.
