Jean “Mama Jean” Robinson Wisecarver, 85, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Wisecarver was born in 1932 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Bessie L. and Ralph R. Robinson, Sr. She graduated from Stonewall High School and a graduate of Winchester School of Nursing, Class of 1967. Mrs. Wisecarver was a Licensed Practical Nurse retiring from Rose Hill Nursing Home. She enjoyed bowling with the Wednesday Morning Housewives League, participated in church league softball, enjoyed rodeos, loved to can vegetables, but always put her children and family first. It gave her great enjoyment to cook for her family and friends. She always encouraged her family to invite friends to the home for family dinners. Mrs. Wisecarver housed an exchange student from Holland and a Fresh Air Child during the summers. She was always giving to others and was of the Methodist faith.
Her husband, Glenden Lee Wisecarver, whom she married on June 18, 1948 in Stephenson, Virginia preceded her in death on April 18, 2015.
Surviving are daughters Linda Vickrek and Sam Snapp (Wayne) of Winchester, Virginia; son, Steven Wisecarver (Sharon) of Winchester, Virginia; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wisecarver was preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey and Gregory Wisecarver; sisters, Nellie Gregory and Frances Fahnestock; and brother, Ralph Robinson, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Doug Rinker officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel. A graveside will be at 2 pm in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Robinson, III, Randy Vorous, Ted Cox, Wayne Snapp, William Brown, and Bob Williamson.
