James L. “Jimmy” Southers
James Lacy “Jimmy” Southers, 81, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away, Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Southers was born in 1928, in Buena Vista, Virginia , the son of the late James Bernard and Martha Ann Southers. He was the owner and operator of J & W Landscaping.
His wife, Janet Antionette DellaGatta, whom he married on August 3, 1946, in Arlington, Virginia, preceded him in death on April 7, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Southers Allison of Gore and Judy Gail Dinges and her husband, Scott of Boyce; four grandchildren, Lacey Burnett, James Burnett, Joe Southers, and Janet Marie Southers; two step grandchildren, Courtney Dinges and Amanda Dinges; three great grandchildren, Wesley Burnett, Cameryn Broy and Kaitlyn Burnett; and three brothers, William Guy Southers of Star Tannery, Jack Southers of North Carolina, and Herbert Southers of Luray. He is preceded in death by a son in law, Dave Allison; a sister, Lucille Costello; and a brother, Ellis Southers.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Bobby Sylvia and Pastor George Reed officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Jenkins, Ralph Wolford, Jr., Primitivo Benitez, Charles Kelsoe, Allen Dinges, and Lloyd Culp.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
