James Kevin Sayers, 57, of White Post, Virginia, died January 11, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Sayers was born in 1958 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of the late James S. Sayers and Helen E. Sayers. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Stoneboro, class of 1976. He joined the United States Army and served four years of active duty. After his service time, he went to work at the steel mills in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Jim returned to school, earning a BS degree in Education from Slippery Rock University, and a MS degree in Education from Shenandoah University while he was working as a teacher. Jim enjoyed building computers and tinkering with cars in his garage, as well as travelling, target shooting, hiking and being outdoors. Jim was also a NASCAR fan, an avid reader, and was a civil war and history buff. He deeply loved his dog, Bella, and two cats, Cami and Missy.
Mr. Sayers married Kristin on July 12, 2003 in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
Surviving with his wife are his daughter Laurelle Sayers, of White Post, Virginia; his two sons, Collin Sayers, of White Post, Virginia and Michael Sayers (Kara), of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania; his granddaughter Violet Sayers, of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania; and his sister Bonnie Blair, of Meadville, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Sayers was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bob” Gregory.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 11:00 AM o 1:00 PM at Omps South Chapel.
Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date, with Reverend Dr. David Young officiating.
