James Pendered Triplett, Sr. age 90, of Upperville, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Triplett was born in 1926, the son of the late Harry Benjamin and Elizabeth W. Triplett. James was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He was a skilled carpenter and builder by trade working in construction most of his adult life. He was a member of Upperville Baptist Church and a charter member of the Upperville Volunteer Fire Department. James was commonly known to many as “Penny” a nickname he had for many years. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to so many. He can be forever remembered for his love of family, faith his hard work and true honest nature. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James married Betty Thomas on August 9, 1952 in Upperville, Virginia. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth Triplett of Richmond, Virginia and Frances Wright and her husband Mark of Upperville, Virginia; son, James Pendered Triplett, Jr. and his wife Linda of Upperville, Virginia; three grandchildren; Matthew Christison, Susan Wright and Kimberly McClellan and four great grandchildren, Christopher, Madison, Tucker and Skylar as well as many extended family members and close friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry B. Triplett, Jr. and Francis Woolston Triplett.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Omps Amherst Chapel, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Upperville, Virginia with Pastor Bill Thigpen officiating.
