James Lewis Baker, Jr., 74 of Gore, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, September 8, 2025, at home.

Jimmy was born in 1950 in Winchester, the son of the late James Lewis Baker, Sr. and Dorothy Ellen Baker. He was a graduate of James Wood High School. Jimmy retired after 30 years as a furniture finisher for Henkel Harris. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church formerly known as Rosedale Baptist Church. Jimmy was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Debra whom he married on June 29, 1974; daughter, Mindy Irene Dawson; son, James Lewis Baker III (Lori); grandchildren, Joshua Lewis Dawson, Emily Irene Dawson, Catherine Jeanette Baker, James Russell Baker, Jonathan Lewis Baker and Wrenley James Baker; sister, Patricia Baker and brothers, Bobby, Larry, Gary and Glen Baker.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by four younger brothers.

A visitation will be held for Jimmy on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
